Community and Tourism Services Inc (CATS)
Community and Tourism Services Inc is a unique partnership formed between the Makushi community at Surama and two private sector businesses: Rock View Lodge and Wilderness Explorers. CATS plans to make this partnership a model of how ecotourism can be financially successful and provide real benefits and ownership to local communities.
The company is equally owned by the three principals and current Chairman of the Board is Sydney Allicock from Surama. The management of Iwokrama Canopy Walkway is the first project undertaken by CATS.
